Local Casinos and Taverns in Nevada
Golden Entertainment, which operates eight casinos and 72 gaming taverns in Nevada, recently reported a financial loss with declines across various sectors before moving to become a private entity under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Blake L. Sartini.
During its fourth quarter, the company generated revenue of $155.6 million, a decrease of 5.2 percent from $164.2 million in the same period the previous year, resulting in a net loss of $8.5 million. For the entire year of 2025, Golden Entertainment reported total revenue of $634.9 million, down from $666.8 million in 2024, leading to a net loss of $6 million.
Performance of Nevada Resorts Division
The Nevada Resorts division, which includes The Strat, generated $90.2 million in revenue, a decline from $97.4 million the previous year. The company operates approximately 5,500 slots, 80 table games, and 6,000 hotel rooms. Despite the overall financial challenges, the local casinos and taverns displayed relative stability, although both experienced slight reductions.
Future Plans
In November, Golden Entertainment announced plans to sell its operating assets to Sartini and affiliates. Additionally, it intends to sell its seven casino real estate assets to VICI Properties through a sale-leaseback arrangement. This transaction is expected to be finalized by mid-year, with VICI assuming and repaying up to $426 million of the existing debt under the company’s Senior Secured Credit Facility.
Following this arrangement, VICI will become the real estate partner for several properties, including the STRAT Hotel, Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, the Aquarius, Edgewater Casino, and the Nugget Hotel & Casino and Lakeside Hotel & Casino in Pahrump.
